February 20 - 23, 2020The Artist Project - www.theartistproject.com - is a Toronto art show with an excellent reputation that has over 300 artists gathered together in one place. It is an opportunity for me to showcase my work as an independent artist in a professional environment to a new audience of art lovers and collectors. This show also provides me with the incentive to create a new body of larger works in order to bring the experience of Eastern rural Ontario to the urban audience of Toronto.
As an artist, there are few opportunities to create larger works, as we are often caught in painting smaller paintings that sell. It gives me the motivation to spend dedicated time in my studio exploring this objective of painting large. I am working towards painting enhanced colour that strengthens the design and composition to bring the sense of wilderness to the viewer. I continue to aspire to work looser and stronger to convey that sense of wilderness. Painting large will give me this opportunity. And because of the reputation of this show, I will be provided with the incentive to create my most ambitious work to date. I have a limited number of tickets for opening night as well as the entire weekend. If you would like a ticket, contact me at the end of January.
